Welcome to the gay sex-ed class you never had.
“When I manscape, (which by the way takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to do), I always wonder what to do about my ass. Like WHAT EXACTLY SHOULD I DO WHEN IT COMES TO MY ASS? For now, I just take a separate razor and shave that way. Is there something else I should be doing, i.e. bleaching? Can you bleach at home? I just want to know what to do because I will feel a ton more confident and it will help a lot.”
From B, 18-year-old college freshman
I feel your pain. Really I do. Manscaping is no joke, and if you watch porn, you will notice every twink is perfectly hairless, bleached, and basically has a giant sign above their butt that says “fuck the hell out of me.”
Have you ever heard of the expression “it’s all smoke and mirrors?” Well it is. The majority of what you are seeing is airbrushed makeup, concealing every butt pimple and stray hair that exists.
In real life, you are already going above and beyond by shaving your ass. I fully agree that a hairless ass feels great, and hygienically speaking, is probably ideal. However, the actual act can be quite cumbersome and requires a couple of props. I find the best way is to buy a small hand mirror and just squat over it before you get in the shower. If you do it once a week, it should only take about 10 minutes max. You can clean up your cheeks once you get in the shower. As far as your taint goes, that’s a personal choice. I think a simple trim with some shaving scissors (available everywhere and cheap) is all that is required. The same goes with your bush – keep it trimmed but not TOO trimmed. The best advice I can give – DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE CREVICE ABOVE YOUR BUTTHOLE! That is the hardest spot to get perfect, and seems to be the most-missed spot, from my experience.
Bleaching? Wait until you are older. At 18 you still have a perky rosebud that shouldn’t need any lightening. Typically bleaching is reserved for porn stars or older men who are losing their luster (the older you get, the darker your asshole gets).
Confidence? Takes time to build. The fact that you are reaching out and asking questions is excellent because that itself shows confidence! You are young, so please don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Have fun, be safe, and get to know your butt over time – it’s not something you want to rush into.
